The weekend saw one of the largest events in the region, the Bedford River Festival, take place. There was a high turnout as crowds of people lined the streets to watch as the event kicked off on Saturday with the procession of floats. It was a great day for it, and you couldn't have asked for better weather.

Everyone enjoyed the sunshine and all the entertainment that was on offer as they strolled round the river banks. It really was a fun filled day out for all the family, with a variety of shows and activities to keep everyone entertained - including a Continental market, sports and arts areas, fairground rides, a medieval village, live music, boat races and a spectacular firework display to finish off on Saturday night. Then it was up to the river again on Sunday for more fun and excitement as the festivities continued with performances from the Philharmonia Orchestra and the raft races.

The River Festival takes place in Bedford every two years so if you missed it this year make sure you come along in 2008.
