Look out for signifiers of quality.
- Glass windows are clearer, more attractive and easier to clean than Perspex varieties.
- Strong locking systems are essential for peace of mind so ensure these are always of home locking standard.
- A tongue and groove roof is far sturdier and more attractive than its ugly OSB board counterpart.
- Micro-porous solvent based preservatives keep timber dry whilst still letting it breathe.
- A log cabin roof must be completely weatherproofed. Opt for good quality, coloured, lightweight shingles which are durable and often more attractive than felt, providing a neater ‘finish’ that won’t deteriorate.

A lot of other companies use third parties, which is not only potentially more costly to the customer but can also create a problem if there is a fault during delivery. With us, you are only dealing with one company; a cost benefit that is passed on to you.
We have our own directly employed installers
They know our products inside out and have a wealth of experience erecting them. Other companies may use third party contractors who could be unfamiliar with the product and how to erect it.

Based on-site and familiar with our products, our Customer Services team are able to consult with other departments on our customer’s behalf should they have any post-delivery queries.
Open 7 days a week and have our own show sites
Customers are always welcome to come and view our products for themselves. There is a huge difference in quality between various manufacturers. A show site offers you the chance to see and experience exactly what you’ll be getting. Our showrooms ensure that you have an opportunity to see, touch and get a feel for our products before purchase. We are not an internet-only company; a lot of internet companies do not have show sites or a registered address beyond a PO Box. Buying on the internet certainly has its advantages but ensure a company is prepared to back this service up by spending time answering questions and showing you around. Even if you decide to forego this part, it’s reassuring to know there’s no veil between what’s being offered on the internet and its reality.

As we buy so much timber, we have the best prices; a saving that we can pass on to our customers. We also vigorously check the quality of our timber, using only slow grown timber due to its greater durability. This is an aspect often overlooked by less experienced companies, which use fast grown timber as it is cheaper but any savings will be short lived. Make sure potential purchases are made with slow grown timber as it is stronger and more robust for the purpose.

You are speaking to the experts. Our Sales people are not agents; they are familiar with our range of products. Many of our products are viewable at our display sites, something most online retailers fail to offer. Our Sales team can also supply you with a base plan, ensuring your product is exactly the size you’re looking for.
We prototype our products in one of our factories first
Our customers are not guinea pigs. Some smaller companies make to order, meaning that your order is potentially the first one of that design they have ever built.

We are the experts and we give the best value. We are unique in this regard. The family that owns Dunster House also owns the manufacturers. Our directors and employees frequently visit the manufacturers to ensure the good quality of our products.
No hidden charges
What you see is what you pay. We don’t add surplus charges for credit cards or for the required screws and nails. Don’t assume all companies price in the same way. It’s not uncommon for some to leave out the cost of floorboards/delivery etc so make sure you know what you’re getting if you want to make a true comparison.
