The Cocoon™ Log cabin is designed to not only look stunning but to be practical too, whatever the size of your garden. The combination of innovative design and sophisticated technology helps to create a garden building with a difference. Our fast modern lifestyles sometimes need an antidote, occasionally we feel the need of an enriching experience of the natural world to feel fulfilled, enjoying the changing moods of your beautiful scenery, the sounds and smells of nature around you. Leisure time increasingly involves engaging with the great outdoors, the Cocoon™ could be considered as a substitute for camping as a way of being close to nature. A complex shape, but beautiful in its simplicity, striking a dramatic pose in even the largest of gardens.

For your Log Cabin we recommend a solid concrete base to footprint size plus 100mm all the way round, for example:

• A Rhine^® 4m x 3m would need a base approximately 4200mm wide x 3200mm deep.
  
• For a Rhine^® 4m x 3m plus 1.5m decking the base would need to be approximately 4200mm wide x 4700mm deep.
  
• For a 9m x 3m Tamar^® Grande the base would need to be approximately 9200mm wide x 3200mm deep.
  
• These sizes are the minimum sized base needed for these particular cabins.

Standard Cocoon™ 45 Specification

EXTERNAL SIZE 3m (9'8") wide x 3m (9'8") deep (approx).

INTERNAL SIZE - 2.77m (9'1") wide x 2.77m (9'1") deep (approx).

WALLS 45mm double tongue and groove walls with bevelled notches for easy construction.

FLOOR - 19mm tongue and groove flooring to give a sturdy, attractive floor.

ROOF - 19mm tongue and groove roofing for an attractive and sturdy roof.

 

Note: We only use tongue and groove timbers for our floor and roof not OSB sheet timber! (We only use MFP board on top of roof insulation, which will usually not be seen as it will have a roof covering over it).

INTERNAL HEIGHT 2300mm (7'7") (approx) (from top of floor to bottom of central purlin), the lowest point inside, giving plenty of interior space.

SINGLE DOOR made with rebated door panels (for a more attractive finish) and fitted with a secure lock. The door is provided in assembled pieces that fit together and then slot into place.

1 WINDOW made from glass, not Perspex. We use glass as it is clearer, easier to clean than clear plastic and it doesn't scratch as easily as clear plastic.

FLOOR BEARERS - 70mm x 70mm pressure treated floor bearers that sit under the log cabin to prevent fungal decay and damage from insects. Without pressure treated bearers moisture would damage the lower aspects of the cabin!

ROOF BEAMS - Heavy duty 140mm x 45mm to prevent 'sagging'.

All wood is planed, pre-cut (with the exception of trims), and pre-notched for quick and simple erection. Click here to see how easy it is!

After simple assembly window slots into place. Minor adjustments will have to be carried out on windows well within the scope of a competent DIYer.
